Since 2020 we have supported 400 pupils, and 80 % of them are still in school today. The Jeunes Pousses programme keeps the giving and improves what it produces : the student gives something back to their community, and the parents gain the tools to take over.
A scholarship that only pays changes nothing lasting. The following year, the same family is in the same place. As Steve puts it : “giving the fish is no longer enough, let us learn to fish”. Jeunes Pousses is what follows those six years, not what replaces them.
They work both ways : the association commits, the family commits, the student commits. Everything is written into a charter signed on entry.
Fees are paid directly to the school, never in cash to the family. That is how we make sure the money lands where it should.
On signing, they join the Jeunes Pousses group. Each month the association proposes a civic action, members can propose one too, the group votes, and the action carried out is the one with the most votes. If the student is a minor, a parent or guardian is the member and represents them.
The parents’ side is currently a training programme : understanding the real cost of schooling, managing a budget, preparing to gradually take over. We announce no amount and no dated target : that would be a promise we could not keep.
Never an automatic suspension. We talk, then we reassess. And a child is never held responsible for an adult’s failure.
Two audiences, two charters. School pupils sign with their parent or guardian : that text carries the parents’ training programme and the payment of fees to the school. Students of legal age going abroad sign for themselves : no parents’ section, a clause on document fraud, and an explicit statement that no admission and no visa are guaranteed. Both audiences join the same group and vote together. Image rights are covered by a separate annex, revocable, and refusing has no consequence on the scholarship.
These are two distinct schemes and they should not be confused. They share the same entry point.
Funded by the EDUFREM company, they help promising applicants cover part of their costs. They are awarded after a review of the application.
Run by the association. On top of the funding it adds a signed charter, a collective civic action and the parents’ training. It is a mutual commitment, not only a form of aid.
Since August 2026 we have been hosting a community of teachers and school leaders around education in Africa : what works, what does not, and what they want to change. It is autonomous, its method is advocacy, and it has voted a no-soliciting rule that applies to its founders as well. It starts in Cameroon and its charter is being adopted.
Two different periods, two compatible figures : the total since 2020, and the last school year alone.
A local association that knows the family and its real situation carries the application. That is what stops us from choosing from a distance between families we have never met. Are you that association ? Write to us.
